Illegal to be Homeless - an independent local documentary produced/ directed by Margaret Hastings, is now complete and

SEPTEMBER

Karen was hired on-the-spot to teach voice lessons at East Metro Music Academy a non-profit community music school in St. Paul, and also to be choir director at Academia Cesar Chavez, a Latino charter school in St. Paul. (Still teaching voice lessons at West Bank School of Music in Minneapolis - it's been 2 years now!)

Illegal to Be Homeless - "Motherless Child" from the Karen Lyu & Global Jazz Live CD was asked to be on the soundtrack of an independent Twin Cities documentary on homelessness. (Thanks to Lydia Howell of KFAI!)

Future Feature Film - Karen Lyu & Global Jazz asked to perform for a New York jazz club scene in a feature film planned to be set in Paris, Berlin and New York. Written by Pulitzer-prize finalist and Emmy Award-winning author Susan Griffin and mercury-poisoning survivor Mary Puff. A personal look at the lives of 3 people throughout history who have struggled with mercury poisoning. Grammy-nominated innovators Kronos Quartet and George Lucas's animation studio will also be featured! FYI - Name, funding and release date TBD.
