Karen Lyu & Global Jazz CD Release
Party at the Cedar Cultural Center
Its finally happening! Those of you who've seen me with the band
know there's something about having fabulous musicians to sing with
that brings out the performer in me - get this concert at the
Cedar on your calendar!
Note: This is a kid-friendly and dance-friendly venue. One-time
concert special - get the Karen Lyu & Global Jazz Live CD
for $10 with a free magnet (normally $15).
The music on the Karen Lyu & Global Jazz Live CD was recorded
on 10/24/02 and 10/25/02 from the stage of Walker Community Church
in Minneapolis. The amazing musicians
include Devon Evans (Bob Marley), Soli Hughes (Sounds of Blackness),
Karen Lyu, James Allen, Rubin Nizri, Michael O'Brien, Shai Hayo
and Tim O'Keefe. Jeff Sylvestre of Blue
Moon Productions did a great job on the recording and engineering.
Special thanks to everyone who preordered to help
raise funds for this CD —especially Bev who got 7 CDs and Sung-hee
who got 6 CDs!

A Gospel
Holiday with Joe Carter and Friends
If
you missed the Morning Show on Xmas morning you can still hear Realplayer
recordings of the Fitzgerald Theatre concert from the Minnesota
Public Radio site! "Ambassador Extraordinaire" of Good
Will, Joe Carter—who has captivated Twin Cities audiences in
performances of Showboatand The Black Nativity—lends
his bass-baritone voice to the songs of the season. Other guests
include: The Voice of Deliverance Choir, St. Stephen the Martyr
Church Choir in Edina, Revelation Choir, gospel singer Libby Turner
from Sounds of Blackness and the talented Thom West on piano and
organ. I had to leave after the first half for a previously scheduled
show at Patrick's Cabaret with Margo McCreary, so I'm lucky I was
able to at least sing Motherless Child in English, Spanish &
Korean with Thom West on piano (very different version than the
one with Soli Hughes on the CD).
